Senior Instructional Designer

Overview

In this role you will design and maintain high-quality learning materials to support UCL’s HR, Finance & Research and Innovation Programme. You’ll translate complex processes into engaging learning solutions across e-learning, videos and facilitator materials. Working with subject-matter experts and stakeholders, you’ll ensure resources are accurate, accessible and well governed. This hybrid role combines hands-on design with cross-functional collaboration to shape impactful, learner-centered experiences at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain learning materials for UCL programmes
• Translate complex processes and requirements into clear, practical learning solutions
• Create e-learning modules, videos, facilitator materials, presentations, toolkits, job aids and quick-reference guides
• Ensure resources are accurate, accessible and user-centred with appropriate version control and governance
• Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to identify needs and validate content
• Contribute to a hybrid-working model with in-office collaboration, typically two days per week

Key requirements

• Experienced instructional designer able to convert technical/operational information into engaging content
• Strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning, blended learning and inclusive design
• Proven ability to work with SMEs and diverse stakeholders to develop and refine content
• Highly organized, detail-oriented and responsive to learner feedback
• Commitment to improving the learning experience through outcomes-based design
