Construction Senior Associate

Overview

In this Senior Associate role you will lead non-contentious construction work for energy and energy transition projects, advising on procurement and negotiations. You will manage contract negotiations for EPC, BOP, supply and O&M agreements, working with a cross-functional team across Bristol or London. You will mentor junior lawyers and guide client stakeholders through complex negotiation processes. This is a growth-focused role within a respected, energy-centric practice that partners with major clients and projects. You will shape deal strategy and contribute to expanding the sector expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiation of EPC, BOP, supply and O&M contracts (FIDIC/NEC-based) for renewables, energy storage, wind, and grid projects
• Manage and guide client stakeholders through negotiation processes, coordinating with project teams
• Supervise junior associates and provide mentorship on contract strategy and negotiations
• Provide procurement advice and contract management support during delivery and operations phases
• Collaborate with energy regulation, planning, real estate, corporate and project finance teams

Key requirements

• Experience negotiating complex construction agreements in the energy sector (EPC, BOP, O&M)
• Proven ability to lead negotiation meetings and manage client stakeholders
• Experience with FIDIC and NEC forms and bespoke arrangements
• Experience on projects with multiple interested parties, including project-finance structures
• Strong motivation to grow sector expertise and contribute to practice development
