Principal Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this Principal Mechanical Engineer role, you lead mechanical design for major projects within Arcadis’ Places Design Practice, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver elegant, efficient solutions. You will present complex technical concepts to clients and mentor junior engineers while ensuring project performance aligns with sustainability goals. The position combines hands-on design leadership with team management to support high-profile client outcomes. Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design on large projects and ensure integration with other design disciplines
• Manage project teams up to 10 people and mentor team members
• Provide technical advice and support for delivery and professional development
• Present complex technical solutions to clients and resolve design issues
• Manage performance of team members and subcontractors

Key requirements

• BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Mechanical Engineering
• Chartered Engineer (CEng)
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Experience in a consultancy environment
• Ability to lead and support junior engineers
