Section Engineer – SC Cleared

Overview

In this contract role, you will oversee site-level construction activities for a high-profile Defence & Security infrastructure project. You’ll lead safety- and quality-focused site coordination, manage subcontractors, and report to senior leaders to drive progress and risk management. The position sits within a collaborative environment that values robust documentation and cross-team alignment. This is an opportunity to shape complex engineering delivery on a Southwest UK project and contribute to critical national infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate subcontractor activities and chair coordination meetings
• Provide client-facing leadership focused on safety and quality
• Report to senior leadership across project functions
• Coordinate with site teams and cross-functional departments
• Identify opportunities and risks; maintain the risk register
• Review drawings and technical documents; oversee works and site activities
• Raise documentation such as TQs, RFIs, NCRs as required
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, policies and best practices during construction/commissioning

Key requirements

• Experience as a Section Engineer with substantial site experience
• Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices
• Leadership and management experience on complex projects
• Proven ability to manage people and develop staff
• Strong stakeholder and partner relationship skills
• Flexibility to respond to unexpected events
• IT skills including MS Office, scheduling software, and document management systems
• Security clearance, CSCS
• Familiarity with SSOWP and RAMS
