Almond Group Practice is looking for an enthusiastic, organised and motivated Medical Receptionist to join our friendly and hardworking team.


With practices in both Kirkliston and Winchburgh, we support a growing patient population of more than 13,000 patients. As both communities continue to grow, this is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established practice and play an important role in providing a high standard of service to our patients.


Our staff work collaboratively across both sites, so flexibility to work between our Kirkliston and Winchburgh practices is essential.


Both practices are modern, purpose-built health centres offering comfortable staff facilities, convenient parking and a range of local shops within walking distance. About the Role


As a Medical Receptionist , you will be one of the first points of contact for our patients. This is a varied and rewarding role that requires excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.


You will be confident and professional when dealing with patients and members of the public, both face-to-face and over the telephone. You will enjoy working as part of a busy team and be able to remain calm and organised in a fast-paced environment.


The successful candidate will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and able to prioritise their workload effectively while maintaining a friendly and professional approach.


Key Responsibilities


Your duties will include, but are not limited to:



  • Welcoming and assisting patients both in person and over the telephone.

  • Responding to patient requests and general enquiries.

  • Booking and managing appointments.

  • Processing prescription requests.

  • Handling and communicating test results in accordance with practice procedures.

  • Scanning, processing and distributing clinical correspondence.

  • Providing general administrative and reception support to the wider practice team.


About You


We are looking for someone who has:



  • Experience in an administrative, reception or customer-facing role. Previous experience within General Practice or an NHS community setting would be advantageous.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and friendly telephone manner.

  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills.

  • Confidence using IT systems, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.

  • The ability to work independently while also contributing positively as part of a team.

  • A proactive, reliable and flexible approach to work.


Experience of Vision and Docman would be advantageous, although full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Working Hours


Please note: the hours below are fixed for this position. (There may be the option to increase working hours for the right candidate.)



  • Wednesday: 8.00am – 4.00pm

  • Thursday: 8.00am – 1.00pm

  • Friday: 12.00pm – 6.00pm
