Hays Engineering are delighted to be partnering with a leading manufacturer in the Newry area to recruit an Engineering Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to take ownership of the engineering function within a growing organisation that designs and manufactures specialist equipment for the agricultural and industrial sectors.
The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers, oversee new product development, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure engineering projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. A strong background in hydraulic and pneumatic systems is essential, while experience within the agricultural machinery sector would be highly advantageous.
The Role
- Lead and manage the Engineering Department, providing technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team.
- Oversee the design, development and delivery of new and existing products.
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation and cost reduction initiatives across engineering and manufacturing operations.
- Take ownership of engineering project planning, resource allocation and project delivery.
- Provide technical expertise on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Work closely with production, operations and commercial teams to ensure customer requirements are achieved.
- Support product testing, validation and problem-solving activities.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, quality requirements and health & safety regulations.
What You’ll Need
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Previous experience in an Engineering Manager, Lead Engineer or Design Manager position.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience within agricultural machinery, mobile equipment, trailers or related manufacturing sectors is highly desirable.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
