Product Manager

Product Manager | Central Leeds | 2 days a week in the office | From £40,000

A technology-led services business in Leeds is hiring a Product Manager to take ownership of its digital products. That covers the web and mobile apps customers use, plus the internal systems the business runs on day to day.

It’s a broad role. You’ll set the roadmap, own the backlog, and work with DevOps, operations and the commercial side to get things built and released.

The job

• Set the product vision and roadmap, and keep it current as priorities shift
• Own the backlog and decide what gets built first, based on user value, risk and commercial return
• Write the requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
• Agree release plans with DevOps and delivery leads, including dependencies and what happens when something slips
• Look after client and third party integrations: who owns them, how data moves, what the security requirements are
• Keep technical, operational and commercial teams pointed in the same direction, and keep senior leadership informed
• Build the business case for new products and the investment decisions behind them
• Track technical debt and ageing systems, and make the call on what to fix, replace or switch off
• Feed support tickets, incidents and customer feedback back into the roadmap

What you’ll need

• Product management experience in a tech business, where the roadmap and backlog were yours to own
• Experience working alongside engineering, operations and commercial teams
• A working understanding of integrations, APIs, security, data protection and uptime in systems the business can’t operate without
• The ability to explain your decisions and back them up with evidence
• Some exposure to business cases and budget conversations

Useful, but not essential

• Time spent somewhere regulated, where audit trails and security are taken seriously
• Bringing AI into a product and making it earn its place
• Products with client integrations, accessibility requirements or international users
• Agile, Jira or similar

Package

From £40,000 depending on experience. Pension, sick pay, on-site parking, company events. Two days a week in Central Leeds, the rest from home.
