Head of Information Technology

Investor-Backed Global Organisation | London | Permanent, Hybrid (3 days in office)

The Role

Lead technology strategy, governance, and service delivery across the organisation. You’ll develop clear technology roadmaps, provide trusted advice to the Executive Team, and ensure technology decisions deliver measurable value. This is a senior leadership role combining strategic direction with pragmatic operational oversight in a lean, MSP-supported environment.

• Senior IT leadership (IT Director, Head of IT, Technology Director, or CIO level)
• Proven ability to develop technology strategies, roadmaps, governance frameworks, and investment plans
• Experience leading technology transformation programmes and operational improvement initiatives
• Established track record operating at Executive or Board level, influencing senior stakeholders

Operational & Delivery Management

• Experience managing MSPs, suppliers, and outsourced technology service providers
• Established PMO function: effective project governance, reporting, and benefits tracking
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational accountability
• Experience supporting digital adoption and driving technology-enabled business change
• Proven capability managing small internal teams supported by MSP partners and specialists
• Strong understanding of cyber security frameworks, controls, and governance
• Experience developing and maintaining business continuity and disaster recovery plans
• Competency in incident response planning and IT service management
• Knowledge of technology risk management and compliance requirements
• Understanding of AI, automation, and emerging technology governance

Technical Knowledge

• Microsoft 365 ecosystem: Teams, SharePoint, Entra ID, and related services
• Cloud platforms, SaaS, and end-user computing environments
• Workplace technology, office networks, and collaboration tools
• Salesforce CRM and wider business application management
• Background in non-profit, investment, or financial services sectors
• Experience supporting research-led, knowledge-based, or international teams
• Proven track record improving Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Teams adoption
• Experience leading responsible AI adoption and governance initiatives
• Professional certifications: ITIL, CISSP, CISM, PMP, Prince2, or equivalent
