Software Engineer

Overview

In this Backend Engineer role you will build and maintain scalable backend services using modern technologies. You will work within Kaluza’s Engineering team to develop customer-facing features and contribute to cloud-based, event-driven systems. You’ll collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to solve real energy and grid-related problems. You will grow technically through code reviews, learning AWS and related tools, while helping shape a high-performance, cross-functional engineering culture.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services using TypeScript and Node.js
• Work with event-driven systems and cloud platforms (AWS)
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to develop features
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews
• Contribute to ongoing development of services and systems with team support
• Work with SQL or NoSQL databases to manage and retrieve data
• Participate in stand-ups and planning to understand building at scale
• Ask questions, seek feedback, and share learnings to support the team environment

Key requirements

• Some hands-on experience writing backend code, ideally in TypeScript, or eagerness to learn
• Basic understanding of cloud technologies or interest in AWS
• Familiarity with databases and APIs, and desire to build reliable software
• Collaborative and open mindset with a proactive attitude
