Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this maintenance-focused role, you support production targets by managing equipment, following safety guidelines and PM regimes, and driving line efficiency. You will troubleshoot faults, collaborate with the team, and lead peers during maintenance tasks. This position involves 12-hour shifts including days, nights and weekends, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality checks, and clear handovers. You will be integral to sustaining continuous production, reducing downtime, and contributing to Ball’s sustainable packaging mission.

Responsibilities

• Perform health and safety checks and follow company guidelines
• Complete daily and monthly PMs
• Respond to and diagnose equipment breakdowns
• Problem solve to identify faults and implement fixes
• Collaborate within a team and assist/lead other mechanics when needed
• Prioritise tasks to maximise output
• Communicate with Team Leader and provide effective handovers
• Ensure all quality checks and start-up sheets are completed

Key requirements

• Engineering qualification
• Time served in a production/manufacturing/FMCG environment
• Able to understand and interpret data
• Engineering line work experience
• Fabrication and welding skills
• Good English and Maths
• Lean manufacturing experience desirable
