Deputy Accounting Manager

Overview

In this role you will support the Client Accounting Manager to lead a small finance team, delivering statutory and management accounting outputs while ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will oversee financial reporting, VAT compliance, and liaison with auditors, contributing to process improvements and growth. Responsibilities

• Deputise for the Client Accounting Manager and supervise a small finance team
• Review and sign off annual statutory financial statements
• Prepare monthly Management Accounts with balance sheet and P&L analysis
• Prepare supporting documents and liaise with auditors to resolve queries
• Review management information including liquidity forecasts
• Review quarterly VAT returns and GL reconciliations for HMRC submission
• Analyse performance statistics and provide management information for board papers
• Account for property purchases/sales including VAT treatment; provide fund updates to management
• Participate in process improvement projects and ad-hoc financial duties to support growth

Key requirements

• Experience in a similar role
• Part-qualified/qualified ACA/CIMA/ACCA
• Self-starter, deadline-driven, team player
• Strong accounting skills to interpret variances
• Concise/strong communicator with internal/external stakeholders
• Advanced MS Excel and comfortable with various accounting systems
• Experience managing junior finance staff or acting as team lead
• Able to manage workloads to meet deadlines
• Experience in financial services; fund/accounting experience advantageous but not essential
