Software Engineering Team Lead – Backup and Recovery

Overview

In this role you will own the backup and recovery direction for Bloomberg Engineering, defining vision and roadmap for a secure, scalable platform. You will lead a team of infrastructure and software engineers, collaborating with Engineering COO and partners to enforce policies and meet regulatory requirements, protecting production data. You will organize backlog, drive delivery, and shape the strategy for the backup and recovery product. You’ll coach talent, foster cross-functional partnerships, and ensure high-quality, compliant solutions. This role offers impact across the organization with technology leadership in critical data protection.

Responsibilities

• Inspire and motivate the team to achieve outstanding results while supporting individual growth
• Build partnerships with internal teams and external stakeholders to align on problems and solutions
• Organize and prioritize the backlog with stakeholders to focus on impactful work
• Collaborate with engineers to deliver high-quality solutions adhering to best practices
• Create and execute the strategy for the backup and recovery product
• Drive the technology vision, roadmap, and its execution

Key requirements

• Proven technical leadership experience guiding technical direction and growing talent
• Coding skills in C++ and/or Python for performance testing and optimization tools
• Strong analytical and data-driven approach to solving complex system challenges
• Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, COO, vendor and sourcing teams, both internal and external
• Experience managing technical teams and projects (preferred)
• Experience with highly visible distributed large systems (preferred)
