Full Stack Developer

Overview

In this role you will build and evolve frontend and backend features for Guardian’s publishing and journalism engineering stream. You will work in a cross-functional team, typically with Scala and TypeScript, shaping both product decisions and technical direction. You’ll grow through movement across teams and contribute to open source communities. This is a chance to impact digital journalism at scale while collaborating with editorial and commercial colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Develop both frontend and backend components in a cross-functional team
• Iterate rapidly to release new features

Key requirements

• Solid backend knowledge in an equivalent programming language
• Experience with frontend and backend development
• Proficiency in Scala and TypeScript; willingness to learn TypeScript if needed
• Interest in shaping the future of digital journalism and web technologies
