Fire Safety Engineering Lead

Overview

In this role you lead fire safety engineering for high-profile projects, guiding strategies and ensuring compliance with standards. You will manage multi-disciplinary teams, grow client relationships, and contribute to bids while driving innovation in fire systems design. You’ll work on complex mobility, building and infrastructure projects with a focus on safety and sustainability. Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to ensure successful project delivery
• Lead safety improvements across the business and promote SHE performance
• Assess staff technical competence and identify training needs
• Manage team performance and align with Arcadis’ strategic goals
• Lead technical delivery of complex projects with client satisfaction and cross-team collaboration
• Drive standardization and automation of key service offerings
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development
• Perform design checks and reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables
• Plan resources and delivery strategies for projects
• Identify new business opportunities and contribute to bids and tenders
• Maintain relationships with clients’ key representatives and market Arcadis services
• Mentor skill-building and talent acquisition strategies
• Improve technical excellence in fire engineering and ensure consistent delivery
• Contribute to sustainable development initiatives aligned with NetZero goals
• Support repeat business and showcase Arcadis’ full capabilities

Key requirements

• BEng/BSc in Safety and Fire Engineering; MEng/MSc preferred
• 20+ years of design experience across mobility, building, and infrastructure projects
• Proven track record of leading and managing complex design projects
• IFE membership and CEng status
• Technical authority in Fire Systems and Safety Engineering for large-scale projects
• Experience with high-profile clients (e.g., London Underground, Network Rail, D&B Contractors)
• In-depth knowledge of fire systems engineering, installations, commissioning, and safety validation
• Strong understanding of fire safety codes, standards, and regulations
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in multidisciplinary teams and under pressure
• Experience delivering projects in 3D BIM environments and familiarity with ProjectWise
• Willingness to travel within the UK and abroad
