Section Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead engineering delivery on a mix of rail, highways and specialist civils packages, driving quality, safety and programme discipline. You’ll coordinate across rail possessions and interfaces with designers and subcontractors to resolve technical issues, while maintaining strong safety standards. The role offers ownership on varied geotechnical and structural works and a clear path toward senior responsibility within a tier 1 contractor.

Responsibilities

• Manage setting out, QA, ITPs and as-built records; maintain engineering controls
• Lead site engineers and coordinate works across rail possessions, highways interfaces and civils areas
• Collaborate with designers and subcontractors to resolve technical issues quickly
• Review and support temporary works, ensuring TWC/TWS compliance
• Produce look-aheads, short-term plans and progress updates
• Maintain high safety standards and ensure adherence to PTS requirements

Key requirements

• Experience as Section Engineer or strong Site Engineer ready to step up
• Background in rail, highways or heavy civils; experience with soil nailing, piling, shotcrete or RC works a strong advantage
• PTS and CSCS essential
• Strong understanding of temporary works; experience with TWC or AP responsibilities preferred
• Organised, calm under pressure and capable of decisive judgment
• HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent higher education)
