Project Engineer

Overview

In this role you will manage mechanical engineering projects from enquiry to delivery, coordinating across customers, suppliers, workshops and subcontractors. You will combine hands-on technical work with customer-facing activities to deliver high-quality solutions. You’ll conduct site assessments, prepare scopes and quotations, and drive projects to meet safety, cost and delivery targets. This is a chance to shape multi-disciplinary projects and contribute to continuous improvement in a hands-on engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from enquiry through to successful delivery
• Attend customer sites for requirements assessment and technical surveys
• Produce project scopes, technical docs and engineering reports
• Prepare quotations and support commercial activities
• Coordinate manufacturing, repair, fabrication and subcontracted work
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal teams throughout the lifecycle
• Monitor progress to meet quality, cost and delivery targets
• Prepare RAMS and site documentation; contribute to troubleshooting and continuous improvement

Key requirements

• Minimum five years’ experience in a mechanical engineering environment and similar Project Engineering role
• Strong practical engineering knowledge with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Commercial awareness of project costs, lead times and customer requirements
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites
