Project Lead Engineer (Civil)

Overview

As Project Lead Engineer, you guide a multi-discipline engineering team in delivering Civil Client work packages within a highly regulated nuclear environment. You will support the Client Project Manager, shape scopes, and ensure designs and documentation meet high safety and quality standards. You’ll collaborate with BIM/CAD teams, supervise construction, and chair design reviews to keep projects on track. This role places you at the forefront of critical engineering initiatives with a strong emphasis on safety and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-discipline engineering team to deliver integrated solutions
• Support Client Project Manager by overseeing consultants and contractors
• Develop and manage work scopes; perform assurance activities
• Collaborate with BIM/CAD teams to ensure design alignment
• Review and accept project documentation and drawings
• Supervise construction activities to ensure design intent is followed
• Chair meetings and design reviews to drive milestones
• Provide technical supervision for commissioning and decommissioning
• Deliver engineering presentations to stakeholders
• Ensure safety and compliance with EH&S and Quality standards

Key requirements

• Degree-level qualification in engineering or scientific discipline
• Chartered Engineer status or ability to attain chartered status
• Civil background essential
• Experience in project engineering of work packages in a highly regulated environment
• Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Compliance with legislation and standards in a regulated industry
• Experience producing technical documentation (reports, specifications, queries)
• Liaison with diverse stakeholders
• Basic health and safety training for site visits
• Nuclear safety case desirable
