Senior Product Test Design Engineer

Overview

In this senior role you will design, build and validate test equipment for electronic systems across board, sub-system and system levels, supporting life-cycle needs in a regulated, R&D-driven environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable test solutions for safety-critical programmes and mentor junior engineers. The position offers long-term growth, exposure to advanced electronics, and opportunities to influence production transfer and obsolescence management. This is a hands-on, impact-focused role within an established engineering function.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop functional test equipment for electronic systems
• Lead and support hardware/software integration and fault diagnosis
• Provide lifecycle and production support, including issue resolution and obsolescence management
• Work collaboratively across engineering disciplines to deliver scalable test solutions
• Lead design reviews and produce high-quality technical documentation
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Key requirements

• Strong knowledge of analogue and digital electronic circuit design
• Ability to produce detailed technical design documentation
• Experience transferring designs into production environments
• Excellent hardware fault-finding and debugging skills
• Test software development experience
• Experience supporting and debugging system integration
• Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (minimum BPSS, ideally SC)
