In this role, you will provide technical and operational leadership across complex geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects, ensuring high-quality, commercially successful outcomes. You will act as a senior technical authority, developing and assuring ground models, geotechnical assessments, and design deliverables. You will oversee advanced geotechnical analyses for foundations, earthworks, tunnels, and related assets, while managing programme, budget, and risk. You will build strong client relationships, lead bids, and mentor engineers to support growth of the geotechnical business. Responsibilities
- Provide leadership across a portfolio of geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects
- Develop and assure ground models, geotechnical assessments, and design solutions
- Direct advanced geotechnical analysis and design for foundations, earthworks, slopes, tunnels and related assets
- Manage project performance including programme, budget, resource planning, quality, risk and contracts
- Develop client relationships and identify opportunities to expand services
- Lead bids and proposals with technical and commercial input
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and development support to engineers and engineering geologists
- Collaborate across disciplines and regions to deliver integrated solutions
- Champion technical excellence, sustainability, health and safety, and digital data usage
Key requirements
- Substantial technical background in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and ground risk management
- Strong expertise in geotechnical interpretation, analysis and design and ability to review and approve outputs
- Proven track record of leading projects and multidisciplinary teams with management of scope, programme, resources, quality and risk
- Strong commercial awareness with experience in proposals, project finances and new business development
- Excellent client and stakeholder management and ability to represent WSP at senior levels
- Experience providing technical and managerial leadership, mentoring, and workload management
- Ability to identify market opportunities and contribute to strategic planning and growth
- Collaborative, influential leadership across disciplines, locations and sectors
- Chartered status with ICE or Geological Society, or equivalent qualification
