Overview
As Development Engineering Manager, you will provide technical leadership across a portfolio of utility-scale battery energy storage projects and drive strategic decisions from development through financing, procurement, construction, and operation. You will collaborate with developers, investors, advisers, and grid stakeholders to optimise technology choices and project economics. The role offers exposure to due diligence, major equipment procurement, and asset optimisation in a fast-growing energy storage business. You will help shape the UK’s energy infrastructure by enabling large-scale storage deployments with cross-functional impact.

Responsibilities
- Lead technical due diligence for acquisitions and advanced development opportunities
- Challenge technical, operational and financial assumptions including performance, degradation, CAPEX and OPEX
- Manage battery system procurement: specifications, design criteria and supplier evaluation
- Provide input on grid connection assessments and network integration
- Support planning and permitting: environmental, transport and construction management plans
- Interface with investors, lenders, technical advisers and engineering consultants during financing
- Evaluate technology developments to improve asset performance and project economics
- Support delivery teams in resolving technical, regulatory and compliance matters during construction
- Provide operational support for performance testing, grid compliance and long-term asset optimisation
Key requirements
- 5+ years in power generation, renewable energy or energy storage with a development engineering focus
- 3+ years with battery energy storage systems, lithium-ion technologies or system integration
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Industrial Engineering or related discipline
- Strong understanding of utility-scale energy infrastructure projects
