Software Development Manager, Amazon Rufus

Overview

In this role you lead and shape the development of a large-scale AI-driven shopping assistant. You will collaborate with scientists, economists, engineers, and product leaders to turn generative AI into a new Amazon business pillar. You drive architecture, delivery of scalable systems, and cross-functional initiatives that improve the customer shopping experience. You will impact how customers discover, compare, and buy products through trustworthy, proactive AI assistance.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of software engineers delivering complex, scalable systems
• Architect and design new and existing systems with scalability and reliability in mind
• Lead the development of multi-tier web services
• Oversee engineering lifecycle practices: coding standards, reviews, source control, builds, testing, live-site operations
• Partner with product and program management to align on requirements and roadmaps

Key requirements

• Experience leading a team of software engineers delivering customer-facing, scalable software
• Experience designing or architecting systems with patterns for reliability and scaling
• Experience guiding multi-tier web services development
• Knowledge of full software/hardware/networks development lifecycle processes (coding standards, reviews, source control, build, test, live operations)

• Effective communication with users, technical teams, and senior leadership
• Mentoring and coaching software engineers
• Ability to work in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
• System architecture and design for scalable software
• Design patterns and reliability engineering
