Radio Frequency Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design, simulate and test RF and analogue electronics for defence and security applications, spanning from LF to X-band. You will work within the Global Services team to support high-impact missions and ensure robust performance in harsh environments. You will collaborate with technical leads and systems engineers to transition development hardware into production and contribute to process improvements. This position offers exposure to advanced RF design, hands-on testing, and opportunities to influence critical defence projects in Romsey.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate and implement RF and analogue circuits and systems
• Perform hands-on RF testing, troubleshooting and fault-finding to optimize performance
• Develop solutions across LF through X-band for LNA, receivers and high-power amplifiers
• Prepare design specs, test plans, reports and compliance evidence
• Participate in design reviews and provide support to leads, PMs and systems engineers
• Assist in transitioning development hardware to production including testing and certification
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve engineering processes

Key requirements

• Degree-level qualification in Electronics Engineering or related discipline
• Experience in RF design, RF testing and RF performance modeling
• Strong knowledge of RF and analogue circuit design, simulation and PCB layout
• Proficiency with Microwave Office and Altium or comparable tools
• Experience with low size, weight, power and cost requirements
• Understanding of RF design for harsh environments (EMC, vibration, thermal)
• Practical experience with spectrum analyzers, vector analyzers, power meters and related equipment
