As our UK operations continue to grow, we are looking for a Project QHSE Engineer / Advisor to join our Norfolk Vanguard West project team and support the successful delivery of one of the UK’s major renewable energy infrastructure projects.
Role Description
The Project QHSE Engineer / Advisor is a full-time hybrid role supporting Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) activities across the Norfolk Vanguard West Project. This position will involve a combination of site attendance, office-based work in London, and home working, depending on project requirements.
Working within an established project team and consortium environment, the successful candidate will provide practical day-to-day QHSE support, ensuring compliance with company standards, client requirements, and relevant legislation. The role requires a hands-on professional who is comfortable engaging with operational teams on site, contributing to client and consortium meetings, carrying out inspections and audits, and ensuring actions are effectively managed through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional QHSE advice and support across project activities.
- Conduct site inspections, workplace observations, and assurance activities.
- Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and support their effective implementation.
- Monitor site activities and proactively identify safety, environmental, and quality concerns.
- Support incident, near-miss, and quality investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Assist with the management of NCRs, observations, and improvement actions.
- Support implementation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality assurance processes.
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, briefings, and QHSE awareness activities.
- Participate in client, consortium, subcontractor, and project meetings.
- Support audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings and action plans.
- Maintain accurate QHSE documentation, records, reports, registers, and performance data.
- Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement across the project.
Qualifications
- Strong Health & Safety and Occupational Health knowledge with practical experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, energy, utilities, or similar project environments.
- Experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) management, including risk assessment, hazard identification, and implementation of effective control measures.
- Experience conducting site inspections, audits, and assurance activities.
- Ability to investigate incidents, identify root causes, and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Experience delivering QHSE inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions to diverse workforces.
- NEBOSH Certificate, IOSH qualification, or equivalent Health & Safety certification is essential.
- Lead auditor for ISO 9001 preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems is advantageous.
- Experience working within a client, joint venture, consortium, or large-scale project environment would be highly beneficial.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
