Payroll & Accounts Administrator

Our client is a friendly, established accounting practice based in Central / NW London supporting a loyal base of small businesses, sole traders and owner-managed companies. We’re looking for an experienced multi-client payroll professional who wants to broaden their skills, you’ll spend three days a week running client payrolls and two days being trained in accounts preparation, giving you a clear path to becoming a well-rounded practice all-rounder.

The role

Payroll (3 days a week)

• Processing a varied portfolio of client payrolls end to end, across weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly frequencies
• Managing RTI submissions (FPS and EPS) and calculating monthly PAYE liabilities
• Handling starters, leavers, P45s, P60s and year-end processes, including P11Ds
• Administering statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP), student loans and attachment of earnings orders
• Running auto-enrolment pension assessments and submissions to providers
• Producing payslips, payroll reports and journals for clients
• Acting as the go-to contact for client payroll queries

Accounts (2 days a week, with full training)

• Bookkeeping and bank reconciliations for a range of clients
• Preparing VAT returns under Making Tax Digital
• Supporting the preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and small limited companies
• Assisting with management accounts and working papers
• Learning accounting software such as VT

About you

Essential

• Strong, all-round payroll experience across multiple clients, gained in an accountancy practice, payroll bureau or similar outsourced environment
• Confident with the full payroll cycle, HMRC requirements and current legislation
• Experience with small company payroll software
• Highly organised, accurate and comfortable juggling deadlines
• A genuine interest in learning accounts and developing your general accounting skills

Desirable

• CIPP qualification or working towards it
• Some exposure to bookkeeping or VAT
• Familiarity with VT software
• AAT part-qualified, or keen to start studying
