Outsource UK are recruiting for a Principal Civil Engineer to join a leading consultancy delivering complex and high-profile projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineering professional looking to take a leading role in the design and delivery of major urban development and infrastructure schemes.
Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will provide technical leadership across a range of building and development projects, with a focus on drainage, highways, utilities, earthworks and site development. Experience within industrial manufacturing, technology or defence sectors would be advantageous.
As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for leading engineering activities from concept through to delivery, ensuring high-quality, sustainable and practical design solutions. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, project stakeholders and clients, while supporting and mentoring junior engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading civil engineering design activities across a range of development projects.
- Managing the production and review of drawings, BIM models, reports and technical specifications.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Overseeing project planning, resource allocation and programme management.
- Managing design risk, hazard logs, assumptions registers and design decision records.
- Attending and leading project meetings with clients and stakeholders.
- Providing technical guidance, leadership and mentorship to engineers, technicians and apprentices.
- Ensuring projects are delivered in line with quality, safety and engineering standards.
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Sole UK Citizen
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or be working towards chartership.
- Strong experience in civil engineering and urban development design.
- Building Services experience
- Proven knowledge of surface water drainage, foul drainage, highways and utility infrastructure.
- Experience using MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, AutoCAD Civil 3D and BIM processes.
- Good understanding of industry standards including SuDS, Sewers for Adoption, DMRB and Building Regulations.
- Project management experience, including planning, commercial awareness and client engagement.
- The ability to lead teams, manage workloads and develop junior engineers.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to apply engineering principles effectively.
