Lancashire Wildlife Trust is looking for a highly motivated individual to join The West Pennines More Nature Partnership as Assistant Project Officer. This role offers a valuable opportunity for a proactive and driven individual to help the project during a crucial phase.

The West Pennines More Nature Partnership (WPMNP) is a Landscape Recovery Scheme project focussing on large-scale restoration across the West Pennine Moors Site of Special Scientific Interest and beyond. The project area covers almost 7,000ha of land with a range of habitat types including blanket bog, heathland, woodland, and grassland. WPMNP will work in close collaboration with landowners, farm tenants, and local communities to see the habitats of the West Pennine Moors SSSI and beyond restored to favourable condition, meeting national Net Zero targets, increasing the levels of biodiversity, and improving the quality of the habitats.

The Assistant Project Officer will support the team on various aspects of the project such as Land Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Stakeholder Engagement, Access, and Land Holding Plans. We are looking for someone who is proactive and keen to help make a difference in the West Pennines.

The WPMNP project has completed its development phase and is currently within the assurance phase, which is scheduled to run until the end of March 2027 but is likely to be extended. The postholder will play a vital role in enabling the project to pass through the assurance phase and into the subsequent implementation phase. If the project successfully passes assurance there may be opportunity for the Assistant Project Officer to be involved in the project’s twenty- to thirty-year implementation.

We offer 28 days holidays plus bank holidays per annum, increasing with length of service. A friendly and flexible working environment with the chance to be a part of the largest nature conservation body in the area, working together to improve our region for nature as well as engaging and inspiring people to connect and take action for wildlife.
