DevOps Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design, build and secure scalable cloud infrastructure for a large government programme. You’ll work within an Agile engineering team to deliver a new software solution, focusing on infrastructure rather than maintenance. You will enable secure, highly available systems and mentor junior engineers, collaborating with software and technical stakeholders. This is a chance to shape resilient, cost-efficient platforms that support mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building and implementing AWS cloud infrastructure
• Creating and managing Kubernetes environments with Docker and Helm
• Developing automated deployment, testing, monitoring and infrastructure processes
• Building infrastructure and tooling to support new software products
• Implementing security, compliance and disaster recovery processes
• Optimising infrastructure for availability, resilience and cost efficiency
• Monitoring and improving application and infrastructure performance
• Troubleshooting complex infrastructure and application issues
• Supporting and mentoring junior DevOps engineers

Key requirements

• 5+ years of DevOps experience with hands-on infrastructure-building exposure
• Strong AWS cloud engineering experience
• Designing and deploying secure, scalable cloud infrastructure
• Kubernetes, Docker and Helm
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• CI/CD and automated deployment pipelines
• Experience in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban)
• Working with technical and senior stakeholders
• Desirable knowledge: GitLab, Jenkins, Packer, Vault, Serverless, Elastic Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Artifactory or Nexus
