Overview

In this Principal Mechanical Engineer role, you’ll advance bespoke tooling to support MSSS SEP operations and early retrievals. You’ll lead a small design/engineering team, defining requirements and guiding tooling concepts through trials to deployment. You’ll act as the main point of contact from initial request to handover for MSSS plant operations, coordinating with client Innovation teams and manufacturing capabilities. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position in a fast-growing Technical Services & Consulting team that values safety, innovation, and delivery impact. You’ll contribute to shaping solutions in a highly regulated nuclear environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and develop tooling concepts for MSSS SEP machines from concept to manufacturing ready
  • Lead and manage a small team of designers/engineers to capture requirements and specification
  • Create design packages for manufacture and installation including drawings, method statements, and risk assessments
  • Ensure compliance with CDM roles, and applicable SL practices, standards and engineering guides
  • Serve as the single point of contact from initial request to handover to MSSS plant operations
  • Coordinate with client Innovation teams, site-wide manufacturing capability, and external contractors to deliver solutions

Key requirements

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Understand CDM roles and specifications
  • Experience producing design packages for manufacture and installation
  • Familiarity with SL practices, standards and engineering guides
  • HNC/HND or Engineering Degree
  • Desirable: experience in decommissioning legacy facilities, materials and contaminated hazards
