Overview

In this Financial Controller role, you will oversee accounting and financial control for two UK entities, reporting to the MD with dotted-line to the Group FC. You’ll ensure accurate financial reporting, support business planning, and uphold strong controls across the organisation. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to manage cash, intercompany activity, and ERP-based data integrity. This is a hands-on role in a growing marine/engineering business with international coordination and potential system enhancements. You will help shape the financial operations and contribute to consolidation and restructuring efforts where needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting for both UK entities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and Group reporting
  • Oversee general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable
  • Prepare weekly and monthly internal and Group financial reports
  • Lead the preparation of annual financial statements and liaise with external auditors
  • Prepare VAT returns in line with UK regulations
  • Manage intercompany transactions and currency reporting
  • Maintain data in ERP/MRP systems and generate financial reports
  • Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting
  • Oversee sales orders, invoicing, payroll submissions, and employee-related financial matters
  • Assist with migration/development of accounting and financial control systems across entities
  • Support potential restructuring and legal entity consolidation
  • Ensure internal controls compliance and Group policy adherence

Key requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience in financial control or accounting
  • CCAB qualification or equivalent advantageous
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP/MRP-type environments
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and financial reporting tools
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
