KDB+ Software Engineer – Vice President

Overview

As a KDB+ Software Engineer in Citi Belfast, you design and deploy real-time market data and analytics systems for equities trading. You’ll join a global team delivering low-latency analytics used by traders, quants, and technology colleagues. Your work shapes trading insights and market data pipelines at scale, with mentorship and opportunities for hybrid work. Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of real-time market data and analytics systems focused on KDB+/q
• Own technical delivery and collaborate with Traders, Quants, and Global Technology teams to build high-performance, low-latency solutions
• Define coding, testing, debugging, and deployment standards and ensure robust implementations
• Understand business architecture and infrastructure to align analytics with business goals
• Assess risk and ensure regulatory and policy compliance, escalating control issues as needed
• Perform feasibility studies, time/cost estimates, and develop or refine applications to meet business needs
• Monitor all phases of the development lifecycle and provide user and operational support to business users
• Consult with users and technology groups to propose advanced solutions and support customer exposure systems
• Operate with limited supervision and contribute to an agile delivery environment
• Communicate risk considerations and uphold firm reputation through compliant practices

Key requirements

• Significant relevant experience
• Proven experience working in KDB+/q
• KDB+ proficiency with databases and Q language
• Strong programming skills in Q/KDB+, Java and Python/PyKX
• Good understanding of Linux/UNIX and OS tuning
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, Multicast and exchange protocols (FIX, OUCH, ITCH)
• Proven latency profiling and optimization experience
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills under production load
• Experience in agile development environments
• Understanding of Market Microstructure, Connectivity, Smart Order Routers, Algorithmic Trading Systems is a plus
