Estimator/Project Quantity Surveyor – Cost Management Jobs in London – DOE

Overview

You will deliver complete residential construction estimates for private refurbishments, extensions and transforms, collaborating with architects, engineers and suppliers. The role focuses on buildability, cost development and clear communication within an integrated design & build team. You’ll identify missing information, make sensible assumptions and seek input when needed, owning the estimating process to drive accurate project pricing. This is a hands-on, problem-solving role in a London residential practice that values ownership and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop complete estimates from drawings, specs and technical information
• Produce detailed project pricing for residential renovations and extensions
• Review build-ups, sequencing, materials, trades and interfaces for accuracy
• Identify gaps and missing information before pricing impacting cost or planning
• Prepare clear scopes and exclusions with assumptions and seek technical input
• Obtain and review subcontractor and supplier quotations and integrate into estimates
• Collaborate with design and construction teams to understand decisions and cost impact
• Explore value-engineering opportunities to improve estimating data and processes

Key requirements

• Experience estimating complete residential construction projects
• Ability to develop project prices from drawings and technical information
• Strong knowledge of residential materials, trades and build interfaces
• Capability to identify missing information and ask relevant technical questions
• Ownership mindset with initiative and ability to escalate for senior input
• Experience in refurbishments, extensions, lofts, basements or related projects
• Experience in Design & Build or high-end residential projects (valued)
