Structural Engineer – Building Structures

Overview

In this role you will help deliver innovative, sustainable structural designs from concept to handover for a range of high-profile projects. You’ll lead multi-disciplinary design efforts, coordinate with architects, engineers and consultants, and contribute to building an expanding order book. You will shape forward-looking solutions using digital techniques and support sustainable development from site selection to construction, with a focus on net zero and MMC/DfMA. Responsibilities

• Develop innovative and sustainable designs from concept for a wide range of projects including hospital redevelopments, universities, and international schemes; perform surveys, inspections and reporting as needed
• Lead and manage single and multi-disciplinary design projects from concept through detailed design in coordination with Architects, Engineers and specialist consultants
• Contribute to delivering an expanding order book and project pipeline
• Take a strategic lead on large multi-disciplinary projects and provide bespoke structural solutions for niche or architect-led concepts
• Foster strong working relationships with other WSP disciplines, external design consultants, stakeholders and clients
• Create forward-looking design solutions leveraging the latest digital techniques and technologies
• Provide sustainable development solutions from site selection through to detailed design and construction
• Offer specialist design advice addressing sustainable design and net zero aspirations and support MMC & DfMA initiatives
• Report to a senior team member and work on high-profile, multi-disciplinary development projects across sectors and regions

Key requirements

• Successful design delivery, particularly concept design and inception in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Proactive improvement of working practices, effective requirements and risk management, and ability to influence others
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with clear communication to project team, stakeholders and clients
• Eligibility to achieve Security Clearance
• Chartered status is commonly pursued in this role (not strictly mandatory)
