Network Engineer III – Backbone (Hybrid, London)

Overview

In this role you will build and operate a hyper-scale, hybrid cloud production network, spanning data centers and edge connectivity across multiple cloud providers. You will own major network improvement initiatives from ideation to funding and execution, while ensuring reliability and performance. You’ll engage in planning, on-call rotations, and cross-team collaboration to drive scalable, secure network services. This position offers influence over architectural decisions in a mission-driven, AI-first environment at CrowdStrike.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain high-performance, fault-tolerant production networks at scale
• Analyze requirements and design solutions for complex business needs
• Lead regular project meetings to address challenges and milestones
• Represent the network team as a technical leader on projects and problem management
• Improve reliability and efficiency of network operations and practices
• Drive capacity planning and growth plans
• Evaluate technologies for scale, security, and maintainability
• Support development, testing and integration of new hardware and software platforms
• Participate in 24×7 on-call rotation

Key requirements

• 5+ years of experience in large-scale backbone and data center network infrastructure
• Expert-level IP networking knowledge (MP-BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VRF, VXLAN, EVPN, QoS, GRE, IPSEC, DNS, MACsec)
• Experience with optical/DWDM, CDN, edge security, DDoS mitigation, load balancing
• Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, OCI
• Infrastructure-as-code experience (Python, Ansible, YAML, Netconf/YANG, Chef, Puppet)
• Git workflows, CI/CD concepts for network automation and testing
• CI tools experience (Jenkins)
• Proficiency with networking vendors (Arista, Palo Alto, Juniper, Adva, Nokia, Cisco, HP)
• Experience applying AI to improve decision-making and workflows
