Overview

In this role you support a busy Real Estate Dispute Resolution team in Manchester or Birmingham, handling contentious property matters for developers, investors, landlords, and tenants. You will manage a caseload, draft pleadings, attend hearings, and help develop the team through training and mentoring. The position offers exposure to complex disputes under the leadership of Dawn Reynolds and opportunities to contribute to marketing and business development. You will work in a collaborative, commercially focused environment that values practical solutions and client outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Advise on landlord and tenant disputes (lease renewals, dilapidations, forfeiture)
• Handle development-related issues (rights of light, restrictive covenants, boundary disputes)
• Manage possession claims and trespass actions
• Support property insolvency and enforcement work
• Draft pleadings, witness statements, and instructions to counsel
• Attend court hearings, mediations, and client meetings
• Manage own caseload with supervision
• Support senior colleagues on complex litigation and ADR matters
• Contribute to team training, knowledge sharing, and mentoring junior team members
• Get involved in marketing and business development initiatives

Key requirements

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 5+ years’ PQE in property litigation preferred
• Strong technical knowledge of real estate law and dispute resolution processes
• Experience in County Court and First-tier Tribunal proceedings
• Organised and methodical approach
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Eye for detail and enthusiasm to learn and develop
