Senior Fire Engineers

Overview

In this Senior Fire Engineer role you will lead technical fire design across healthcare, education, commercial, residential, life sciences and regeneration projects. You’ll translate client needs into compliant fire strategies, supervise CFD and evacuation modelling, and guide teams through concept to handover. You’ll partner with multidisciplinary colleagues to embed fire safety across design and construction. A key part of the role is winning work and mentoring junior engineers while advancing best practice. Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies across a diverse portfolio
• Provide authoritative guidance through concept design, detailed design, construction and handover
• Oversee fire and smoke modelling (CFD), evacuation modelling and smoke control, in collaboration with specialists
• Ensure designs meet regulations, standards and Stantec quality processes
• Act as Technical Lead on major bids and complex multi-disciplinary schemes
• Build relationships with clients, architects, developers, contractors and approval authorities
• Lead client meetings, technical workshops and regulatory consultations
• Support work-winning activities including fee proposals and bid writing
• Champion fire-safety integration across Architecture, MEP, Structural, Transport and Project Management teams
• Mentor junior Fire Engineers and contribute to internal initiatives and thought leadership

Key requirements

• Experience producing fire strategies for complex buildings
• Proficient in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar modelling tools
• Strong communication skills for presenting technical matters to clients
• Experience in a consultancy environment on multidisciplinary projects
• Proactive, collaborative mindset aligned to Stantec values
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards with IFE or equivalent
