Senior Civil Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will shape civil design across water and wastewater schemes from concept through commissioning. You’ll integrate civil work with other disciplines, working with commercial, operations and construction teams to deliver compliant, buildable solutions. The role supports sustainable, low-carbon delivery and resilient networks while aligning with regulatory standards. This position offers cross-site collaboration, mentorship, and opportunities to influence major water projects in Scotland.

Responsibilities

• Provide design support for schemes, ensuring fit-for-purpose outcomes and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop practical and safe solutions
• Engage with clients to adopt a one-team approach and support project aims
• Manage interfaces between civil design and other disciplines and produce integrated documentation
• Act as technical checker and conduct design reviews across teams
• Identify delivery improvements, standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tool adoption
• Perform site reviews to ensure buildability and integration with existing systems
• Develop and mentor civil engineering staff and allocate appropriate project resources

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a relevant Engineering Institution
• Proven track record delivering high-quality outputs meeting design, quality, and safety standards
• Effective communication with team members and stakeholders
• Methodical problem-solving approach
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across region
