Associate Fire Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead performance-based fire strategies for a diverse portfolio, ensuring compliance with regulations and quality standards. You will mentor teams, collaborate across disciplines, and drive technical excellence in a busy Buildings practice. You will guide projects from concept through handover, using modelling tools to shape safe, sustainable spaces. Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies across diverse sectors
• Provide authoritative guidance through concept to handover stages
• Oversee fire and smoke modelling (CFD), evacuation modelling and smoke control strategies
• Ensure designs meet regulations, standards and internal quality processes
• Act as Technical Lead on major bids and complex multi-disciplinary schemes
• Build relationships with clients, architects, developers, and authorities
• Lead client meetings, workshops and regulatory consultations
• Provide commercially aware advice to support design and delivery outcomes
• Champion fire-safety integration across Architecture, MEP, Structural, Transport, Environmental and Project Management teams
• Contribute to growth of Fire Engineering service and support bid activity
• Mentor Fire Engineers and promote technical excellence and knowledge-sharing
• Lead internal initiatives and contribute to thought leadership within Stantec’s Fire Engineering community

Key requirements

• Extensive experience producing fire strategies for complex buildings
• Proficient in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar modelling tools
• Strong communication skills for presenting technical matters to clients
• Experience in a consultancy environment on multidisciplinary projects
