Senior Engineering Lead (FinTech AI)

Overview

In this hands-on leadership role, you will build and guide ASOS’s AI engineering team for FinTech and Fashion Tech, delivering production-ready agentic AI and automation solutions. You’ll line-manage AI Engineers while still coding when needed, ensuring end-to-end delivery from problem understanding to live deployments. You’ll collaborate with the central AI team and co-create scalable AI capabilities that reduce repetitive work across Finance, Commercial, Buying and Merchandising. This is a performance-focused opportunity to shape a high-impact AI delivery function aligned with ASOS governance and guardrails.

Responsibilities

• Line-manage and develop a team of AI Engineers; set objectives, conduct 1:1s, manage performance and hiring
• Grow the team; onboard and upskill engineers for changing work
• Coach through design reviews, pairing and code reviews; provide constructive feedback
• Own technical direction and engineering standards (architecture, reusable patterns, code quality, testing, CI/CD, security)
• Lead hands-on delivery of production-ready agentic AI and automation solutions; prototype and unblock critical builds
• Build integrations with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, ReconArt, Concur, ServiceNow and data platform; apply retrieval augmented generation and grounding
• Own delivery planning, backlog prioritisation, capacity management, production handover, and governance
• Operate within Azure DevOps, monitor operational foundations (monitoring, alerts, runbooks) and incident response
• Collaborate with Finance, Commercial, Buying and Merchandising to identify automation opportunities; communicate options clearly
• Track benefits delivered (time saved, reduced manual effort, shorter cycle times) and report progress to senior stakeholders

Key requirements

• Experience line managing engineers and delivering with hands-on coding
• Proven track record of setting technical direction and engineering standards
• Experience delivering end-to-end team delivery with planning, prioritisation and reporting to stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to work within a framework owned by central/platform teams and push back when needed
• Hands-on design and delivery of agentic AI solutions that are live and used in production

• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to explain technical ideas to non-technical audiences
• Strong communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams
• Mentoring and development mindset; coaching and feedback culture
• LLM and agent frameworks (Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Semantic Kernel, LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI)
• Agent patterns (tool calling, orchestration, memory, multi-agent workflows, retrieval augmented generation)
