Senior/Associate Mechanical Engineer

In this role you will lead mechanical building services design across feasibility to construction, collaborating with engineers and clients to deliver robust, compliant schemes. Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day management of a team of engineers and shape their career paths
• Deliver mechanical design for building services including heating, ventilation, cooling and domestic water systems; develop specifications for BMS and related systems
• Prepare and check calculations, drawings and specifications across concept to technical design stages
• Coordinate mechanical services with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, sustainability)
• Collaborate with project leads, engineers, surveyors and managers to ensure technical compliance and quality assurance
• Support design package development for tender and construction; respond to contractor queries
• Contribute to internal technical reviews and knowledge sharing
• Utilise IES, AutoCAD and Revit to produce coordinated design outputs
• Carry out surveys of buildings and provide commentary on existing installations
• Attend site during construction for mechanical construction monitoring and perform periodic clerk of works duties
• Perform asset capture surveys across the North

Key requirements

• Demonstrable experience delivering mechanical designs within a consultancy or design-and-build environment
• Strong technical skills and familiarity with design tools (Revit, AutoCAD; IES is beneficial)
• Good understanding of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guides and industry standards
• Organised, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple deadlines
• Collaborative approach and willingness to learn from team members
• Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
• Ideally working towards professional registration (CIBSE or IMechE)
• Project design responsibility from feasibility through to detailed design and construction
• Experience with relevant MS and design software
