Electrical Engineer – Power

Overview

As an Electrical Power Engineer at HDR, you contribute to transforming power infrastructure for high-profile clients, including utilities and global tech leaders. Responsibilities

• Support design and engineering of high-voltage substation and power delivery projects from concept to detailed design
• Assist in preparing technical documentation including reports, specifications, drawings, and calculations
• Collaborate with civil, structural, and protection engineers to integrate solutions
• Participate in design reviews, quality checks, and client meetings with guidance from senior staff
• Interpret and apply design codes and client specifications (IEC, IEEE, ANSI)
• Engage in internal learning to develop technical expertise toward chartership
• Promote safe design practices and support CDM and ISO quality compliance

Key requirements

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical design (preferably HV substations or switchyards)
• Basic understanding of one-line diagrams, cable sizing, earthing, and protection schemes
• Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, ANSI standards and design tools (AutoCAD, ETAP, DigSILENT or similar) is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; proactive and collaborative attitude
• Willingness to learn and contribute in a team environment
• Working toward or interest in Chartered status
