Financial Reporting and Accounting Manager

Overview

As Manager in our FRAS team, you will lead non-audit engagements for public sector clients, ensuring quality and technical accuracy. You’ll guide complex accounting issues, support financial reporting and governance, and contribute to business development. You’ll oversee project delivery, budgets, and onboarding, while building strong client relationships. This role sits in a growing practice that helps NHS trusts and local authorities navigate IFRS and public sector reporting. Responsibilities

• Deliver non-audit engagements across FRAS services with quality focus
• Resolve complex technical accounting issues and support new standards adoption
• Mentor and oversee junior staff and project delivery
• Support business development and propose new service offerings
• Oversee project finances and budgets
• Handle client onboarding and maintain client relationships
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet client needs
• Drive continuous improvement in processes and outputs

Key requirements

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA)
• Post-qualification experience in external audit/consulting for Local Authorities and Health bodies or within Local Government/Health finance
• Strong IFRS knowledge and implementation experience in the public sector
• Excellent public sector financial reporting knowledge
• Project management experience
• Experience in leading and developing client relationships
• Business development experience beneficial
• Experience coaching junior colleagues
