Overview
As Project Design Engineer – Mechanical, you will lead mechanical design across the project lifecycle within a multidisciplinary design‑and‑build team. You will work closely with site, commercial, and technical colleagues to ensure designs are deliverable on time, within budget, and to spec. You will drive collaboration across civil, electrical, process, and BIM disciplines and mentor colleagues while pursuing chartership. This role offers involvement from outline design through commissioning, with a strong emphasis on delivering real, buildable water and wastewater solutions. Responsibilities
- Lead the design of treatment or infrastructure projects from outline to detailed design, through construction, commissioning and handover
- Coordinate the project team (civil, electrical, mechanical, process designers, BIM modelers, and specialists) to meet programme, budget, and quality targets
- Perform design work within own discipline and mentor junior staff
- Build strong relationships with client teams and promote a one-team approach
- Work within a project triangle alongside Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to ensure constructability and commercial considerations are integrated throughout design
- Support cross‑disciplinary collaboration and ensure designs align with industry specifications
Key requirements
- Accredited Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Incorporated Member of Engineering Institution
- Outline and detailed design experience of water or wastewater projects
- Knowledge of the Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015
- Cross-functional collaboration
