We’re hiring: Bulk Analyst (P401) – Grays, Essex
Asbestos Consultants Europe Ltd (ACE) is one of the UK’s leading asbestos consultancies, providing specialist advice and services for all asbestos-related problems to both the public and private sectors. We’re expanding, and our Grays laboratory is looking for a meticulous Bulk Analyst to join the team.
About the role
You’ll be proficient in all aspects of bulk sample analysis, ensuring accurate and reliable results. Reporting to both the Laboratory Supervisor and Operations Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining our commitment to high-quality asbestos analysis. Our mission is to make buildings safer – and we need dedicated professionals to uphold our high standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Booking in and preparing samples received from site, undertaking sample analysis and reporting analytical findings
- Undertaking routine quality checks assigned by the Lab Supervisor
- Participating in the internal QC programme and external proficiency schemes
- Ensuring the safe use of substances and safe handling of samples at all times
- Following procedures as described in HSG248 and ACE’s documented in-house procedures
- Keeping up to date with current regulations and maintaining technical knowledge and skills related to the role
- Providing technical support, and undertaking other lab duties as and when required

- P401 Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples (PLM) – or equivalent (essential)
- P402 Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings – Optiona
- P403 Asbestos Fibre Counting (PCM) – Optional
The details
Location: Grays, Essex RM20
Hours: 37.5 hrs, Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:30
Salary: Up to £28,000, negotiable depending on experience and qualifications
