The Deputy Head of Resource Planning is a senior leadership role within the Planning Directorate, responsible for leading the Trust’s operational and Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) resource planning and scheduling functions. The postholder will ensure that the Trust has the right people, with the right skills, in the right place at the right time to meet patient demand, operational performance standards and regulatory requirements. The role provides strategic and operational leadership to the Scheduling Department, drives performance improvement, and works closely with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of safe, effective and efficient patient care. The successful candidate will also deputise for the Head of Resource Planning as required.
- Lead the operational resource planning and scheduling function across a large geographical area to ensure workforce resources are aligned to patient demand and service requirements.
- Manage and develop a large team of Resource Planning Managers, Scheduling Coordinators and support staff, promoting high performance and staff wellbeing.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations on workforce planning, resourcing strategies and operational performance to senior leaders across the Trust.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and organisational requirements, including Working Time Regulations and workforce governance standards.
- Lead performance improvement initiatives and support the development of innovative workforce planning solutions to improve service delivery and patient outcomes.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders including operational teams, trade union representatives and external partners.
