Data Engineer

Overview

In this role, you design, build and maintain data pipelines and systems to enable data analysis and machine learning. You work within a cross-functional team of technology experts to deliver client-focused data solutions. You’ll ensure data quality and reliability while collaborating with data scientists, analysts and stakeholders. This position offers exposure to modern data stacks and cloud-enabled architectures in a dynamic, growth‑driven consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Develop data engineering solutions for client projects
• Design data models and schemas to support business requirements
• Build and maintain data ingestion and processing systems using tools like SQL, NoSQL, ETL, Luigi, Airflow, Argo
• Implement data storage solutions across relational, non-relational and cloud-based databases
• Collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to address data issues and opportunities
• Stay updated on trends in data engineering (modern data stack, cloud, big data)

Key requirements

• Experience in data engineering within teams and independently
• Cloud infrastructure exposure (Azure or AWS; GCP beneficial)
• SQL and relational databases (MS SQL/Azure SQL, PostgreSQL)
• Framework experience (Flask, Tornado, or Django) and Docker
• Experience with ETL pipelines (Luigi, Airflow, Argo)
• Big data technologies (Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka)
• Data acquisition and dataset development; data quality improvement
• Preparing data for predictive/prescriptive modelling
• Reporting tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik)
• Agile development experience
• GDPR and Government Service Standard (desirable)
