Senior Software Engineer x2 – Engineering Excellence & AI Enablement
Bristol (Hybrid, 2 days/week) – Permanent – Up to £75k + 15% bonus + Bens
A rare opportunity to join the technical excellence function at a major UK investment platform (2M+ clients, £120bn+ AUM, based in Bristol) — helping advance the organisation’s AI capability maturity and raise coding standards across the wider engineering team. You’ll be recognised as a technical expert among your peers, driving best practice through mentoring, code review and cross-team knowledge-sharing, while writing high-quality, well-engineered software yourself. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will influence technical direction at squad level and play an active role in team-wide and cross-team initiatives, contributing to the ongoing evolution of engineering excellence across the business.
Tech skills:
- Expert-level in one or more languages, ideally Python or JavaScript
- Strong grounding in secure coding practices and vulnerability management
- Comfortable acting as a low-level design authority on system architecture
- Automated testing — developing and evidencing tests alongside code
- Documentation discipline (Confluence or equivalent)
- Genuine interest in agentic AI tooling and automation in the SDLC
- Strong communication — able to influence technical direction beyond your own squad
