My client in County Durham is seeking an experienced first-opinion Veterinary Surgeon to join its established team on a six-month fixed-term basis. The role would suit a confident vet, or an experienced locum looking for a well-equipped practice where they can become part of a friendly and supportive team.
The practice has a close-knit team of experienced Veterinary Surgeons, dedicated Nurses and welcoming Receptionists who work collaboratively to provide high standards of patient and client care. There is a good balance of experience across the team, creating an environment where colleagues support one another and share their knowledge.
The spacious and modern practice is well suited to managing a varied first-opinion caseload. The facilities include dedicated inpatient wards, a generous waiting area, a large prep room and a separate imaging suite. The practice is also an ISFM-accredited Cat Friendly Clinic, with feline patients benefiting from their own entrance, waiting area and hospital ward.
The clinical facilities include digital and dental X-ray, endoscopy and ultrasound, alongside in-house haematology and biochemistry analysers. This provides the successful Veterinary Surgeon with the equipment and resources needed to work confidently across a broad range of first-opinion cases.
The position is full-time, working 40 hours over four days per week, with a 1 in 5 Saturday morning rota from 8:30am to 12:00pm. The salary is up to £70-75k depending on experience.
