Test Engineer

Setup: Freelance (Daily Rate / Limited Company / Umbrella / Sole Trader)

Location: London, UK (3 days onsite per week)

Our client is seeking a Senior Software Developer in Test with strong Java automation expertise to help deliver high-quality, scalable cloud-based data and API solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and reusable testing utilities for end-to-end validation.
• Develop and execute automated test cases for REST APIs, ensuring functionality, reliability, and performance.
• Drive adoption of TDD/BDD methodologies across the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to embed quality controls within GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Support cloud-native testing strategies for Azure-based platforms.
• Troubleshoot and optimise automation frameworks for scalability and maintainability.

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong Java development experience focused on test automation.
• Hands-on experience with TDD/BDD frameworks such as JUnit and Cucumber.
• REST API testing and automation expertise.
• Experience with front-to-back (F2B) testing in enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitLab.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Nice-to-Have:

• Databricks testing and validation expertise.
• Knowledge of observability, quality reporting, performance testing, and monitoring tools
