Candour Talent are recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their manufacturing client in the Blackwood area.

An exciting opportunity for a dynamic Mechanical Design Engineer to join an employer of choice in the Blackwood area.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the engineering team, supporting the design and development of new products in the business’ portfolio. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience of mechanical design within a manufacturing environment, further develop technical skills, and work alongside a team of experienced engineers, who are experts in their field.

The Role:

• Support the development of innovative and practical mechanical design concepts that meet project, customer, cost, and performance requirements.
• Apply engineering principles and work closely with internal teams to ensure designs are robust, fit for purpose, cost-effective, and suitable for manufacture.
• Assist with checking drawings and design documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal quality standards.
• Participate in engineering meetings, design reviews, and cross-functional project discussions.
• Work with technical specialists where required.
• Attend customer meetings as needed.
• Assist with the development and improvement of existing products, processes, and design solutions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date design drawings and technical documentation.
• Develop knowledge of company products, manufacturing processes, engineering standards, and design best practices.
• Take an active role in personal development by learning from experienced engineers and building capability across mechanical design and product development.

The Ideal Candidate:

• 2+ years’ experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineer role
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar discipline
• Experience in an industrial, engineering, or manufacturing environment, ideally related to the aerospace and/or automotive industry
• Strong communication skills: able to convey technical and non-technical information clearly and concisely to a technical and non-technical audience
• Keen to learn and develop
• Valid UK Driving Licence
