Youth Justice Service Officer / Case Manager

Job Purpose


To work as part of amulti-agency Youth Justice Serviceto prevent offending and reduce reoffending among children and young people. The postholder will manage a caseload, deliver statutory interventions and support young people to achieve positive outcomes.


Key Responsibilities



  • Manage a caseload of young people subject toYouth Justice statutory orders.


  • CompleteAssetPlus and other assessments, identifying risks, needs and strengths.


  • Develop and deliver targeted intervention and risk-management plans.


  • Preparepre-sentence, referral order and court reports.


  • Represent the YJS atYouth Court and other courtsas required.


  • Undertake direct work with young people, parents and carers, including home and community visits.


  • Work with children’s social care, police, education, health and other partner agencies.


  • Support young people onbail, remand and custody, including resettlement and rehabilitation.


  • Respond to safeguarding concerns and promote the welfare of children and young people.


  • Promoterestorative justiceand positive outcomes for victims and young people.


  • Maintain accurate, timely case records and contribute to service performance monitoring.


  • Participate in quality assurance, training, supervision and professional development.



Essential Experience



  • Experience working withchildren and young people, particularly those involved in offending or at risk of offending.


  • Knowledge ofyouth justice, safeguarding and risk management.


  • Experience undertaking assessments and developing intervention plans.


  • Strong multi-agency working and case management skills.


  • Excellent communication, report-writing and court presentation skills.


  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings, weekends and court duties.
